Empowering the Women of Mamu Village
Widows often undergo severe psychological and emotional trauma, apart from financial, cultural and social neglect. Their problems are further aggravated by their inaccessibility to proper education, legal and social reforms. The problems faced by widows in Bonacanda village have far-reaching consequences. Women in most rural communities of the South West Region face similar problems as men in the society tend to control them through the use of violence on account of the fact that these women are wholly dependent on them for subsistence.
